Bike Repair Station – A bike repair station located next to the bike rack is available for those who bike to the library, as well as members of the public who are on the trail and need help. It contains common bike repair tools. This project was made possible due to a 2022 grant from the Morton Community Foundation.

Chess tables – Play Chess at one of our two Chess tables. One table honors James Vernon and the other is in remembrance of Edward Bagley. During library hours you can come in and borrow chess pieces.

Storywalk – To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Hannah’s Reading Garden, the Walters family generously donated the funds to install a Storywalk on library grounds. The Storywalk starts outside the front door, continues down Pershing and alongside the library building by Peoria St., and ends in Hannah’s Reading Garden.

Self Guided Tree Walk – The University of Illinois Master Gardeners identified 26 different species on our grounds and put together a walk around library property. Get the brochure inside the library or on our website.

Garden Party Backyard Games – 15 backyard games were added to the library’s collection this year with a grant from the Morton Community Foundation. Games check out for two weeks and are available from April-October. Play here or at home! Hannah’s Reading GardenHannah’s Reading Garden provides a safe, shady, and welcoming place for our children’s programming and popular summer Friday Showtime and Groove in the Garden events. This beautiful outdoor space was created in the fall of 2014 through a generous gift from Dan and Lynne Walters in honor of their granddaughter, Hannah Thompson. Bring your lawn chair, a picnic, or a book and enjoy the space.
