Hannah’s Reading Garden

Outside Event in Hannah's Reading Garden

For the past decade, Hannah’s Reading Garden has been at the heart of the Morton Library’s Summer Reading Program. Created in 2014 through a generous gift from Dan and Lynne Walters in honor of their granddaughter Hannah Thompson, the garden features a stage by Aupperle Construction, landscaping by S.A. Moreland Landscapes, and design by Keach Architectural Designs.

Since opening in 2015, this inviting outdoor space has hosted family favorites like jugglers, magicians, musicians, and puppet shows. In 2016, it became home to Groove in the Garden, a free Friday night concert series that now draws hundreds for live music, food trucks, and community fun.
Even during the 2020 pandemic, the garden provided a safe way to stay connected through outdoor programs and book pickup services.

Today, Hannah’s Reading Garden remains a vibrant gathering place for storytimes, concerts, cooking demos, and nature programs. Ongoing support from the Hannah’s Reading Garden Endowment Fund at the Morton Community Foundation helps ensure its beauty and impact for years to come.
