snowflake exhibit

Currently on display in the Morton Library Reuling Room is a collection of 100% real snowflakes caught on glass mid-flight and photographed before melting away forever. The color of each snowflake comes from the material used in the background behind the glass. All the snowflakes in this collection were caught and photographed in Morton. Seeing the beauty and unique details of each snowflake provides a new perspective on snow. Like seeing objects in the clouds it’s fun for the entire family to find shapes hidden in the snowflakes. They range from standard hexagons, circles and triangles to unique shapes such as flowers, trees and birds.

Paul is photographer from Morton that loves to capture moments in time, combining his passions of art and engineering to provide a unique view of the world around us. Through is photography he seeks to let people re-experience life in a new way. You’ll often find Paul with his camera capturing events, taking action shots along the sidelines at games, and hiking to find beautiful landscapes in national parks. In the winter, Paul looks forward to cold snowfalls when he can go on the treasure hunt of finding and photographing amazing snowflakes. You can find more of his work on his website or in his children’s book “The Secret Shapes of Snowflakes”, available at the library.
