Help for your 2024 goals
Let the Morton Library help you with your new year’s resolutions and goals for 2024!
As we enter January many of us are making plans for what we’d like to accomplish in 2024. With books, resources, collections and programs the library can help you reach some of your 2024 goals.
If you’d like to read more in 2024, the library is the obvious place to start. But what to read is always a question. While we have everything from classics to the most recent bestseller, it’s sometimes a challenge to get started. If you need some suggestions, check out our fall and summer reading guides curated by Library Director Alissa Williams.
For recommendations based on authors or books you’ve enjoyed in the past, use the NoveList database to help you find your next great read.
If you just want someone to tell you what to read join a library book club. Morton Library offers two. You can meet new people, discuss books, and get more suggestions on what to read. Books and Bites meets monthly at a local restaurant on the third Tuesday at 6:30pm. Check our events calendar for the location. Required Reading discusses classic books and meets the second Thursday of the month in the Library at 1:30 pm or 6:30 pm.
Want to organize your family memories? We probably all have a stack of home movies in the basement we’d like to convert to digital format. Did you know our digital media lab has a VHS to DVD convertor? You can come in with your VHS tapes and relive your memories while it converts to DVD.
Or maybe you have old prints you’d like to scan and make into a photo book. Our Scan Station can easily scan your images and do simple retouching. You can save to a flash drive or cloud storage. And if you need more advanced retouching you can use the Digital Media Lab computer which has Adobe Photoshop software.
Are you looking to save money in 2024? Drop your subscription to the local newspaper and read it online through our NewsBank database. We offer digital issues of many popular national newspaper including USA Today and the New York Times.
Ditch your Netflix subscription and use the library’s DVD collection and specially curated Binge Boxes to have something to watch during these winter weekends.
Enjoy puzzling? The library has a puzzle exchange where you can borrow puzzles as well as donate puzzles to share with others.
Instead of paying for Duolingo, use our free Mango Languages to learn a new language this year for fun or a trip that’s coming up.
Let us know how the library can help you achieve your goals.
